Attendees will learn about diet mindset and be able to identify disordered eating patterns. Clinicians will also address food, body, and thinking distortions and elaborate on how these manifest within their current client populations. Attendees will be provided with a roadmap for exploring the parallels between trauma and the effects of diet mindset through a detailed exploration of the neurobiological effects of restrictive dieting and disordered eating.

 

Presenter Bios:

Becca Clegg, LPC, CEDS-S Program Consultant, Oak House at The Refuge

Becca Clegg, is the founder of Authentic Living, a private practice specializing in the treatment of women in recovery from eating disorders & body image issues. Becca is also the Co-Clinical Director of Creative Health Initiatives (CHI), a group therapy program that provides outpatient groups, programs and workshops for women in recovery and business development consultation for therapists.

Becca is also a speaker, writer & teacher, educating families, clients and clinicians on the treatment of eating disorders and body image issues. She has been a contributing writer for The National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA), The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, NBC, Euro News, Recovery Warriors, and her own personal blog found at Rebeccaclegg.com. In 2017, she published Ending The Diet Mindset: Reclaim a Healthy and Balanced Relationship with Food and Body Image; and speaks nationally on the subject of dieting and diet culture, with the goal of empowering people to develop a balanced mindset with regards to the ways they view dieting, their bodies, and the culture we live in.

 

 

Sharon Zimbler, LMFT Chief Executive Officer, Montecatini

Sharon is a Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked at Montecatini Eating Disorder Treatment Center for over 10 years. She started her career at Montecatini as a program therapist then took on an additional role as the Utilization Review Manager. Sharon was promoted to the position of National Utilization Review Director for CRC’s eating disorder division in 2014 before advancing to the role of Executive Director.

Sharon has extensive knowledge of the medical, nutritional and psychological aspects of eating disorders. After receiving her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, Sharon began working on her Doctorate of Psychology degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. During her doctoral studies, she focused her research on the co-occurrence of Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse. Sharon has been an integral part of designing a one of a kind integrated substance abuse program for Acadia Healthcare’s Eating Disorder Division. Sharon has presented nationally and been invited to speak as an expert on eating disorders throughout the country.
