Tom Bennett is the higher education recovery coordinator for Acadia Healthcare’s Treatment Placement Specialists® team.
Tom has spent the past 12 years working exclusively in higher education with senior administrators, department heads, and other on-campus individuals to develop and implement protocol for students requiring treatment for mental and behavioral health issues including substance use, eating disorder, trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood disorder. The result has been to help direct students and their families to appropriate levels of treatment, aftercare, and re-entry into post-secondary institutions, fostering enhanced resilience for the student and increased retention rates for the institution.
Tom is the first corporate partner with the HECMA (Higher Education Case Managers Association) and holds membership in NASPA (Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education), ACHA (American College Health Association), ASCA (Association of Student Conduct Administration), ARHE (Association of Recovery in Higher Education), and (NARR) (National Alliance of Recovery Residences). He currently sits on the boards of several recovery and treatment organizations including Enders Island at Mystic, CT and The Institute for the Study of Addiction, Treatment, & Families at Texas Tech University. He has long been involved with SAMHSA, Faces and Voices of Recovery, AUCCCD, and the National Conference on Law in Higher Education.
